Using the same International Rookie system they brought in Mason Cox with, Collingwood has acquired another budding international athlete.

The Magpies have signed 202cm Senegalese basketballer Bassirou Faye on an International Rookie Scholarship - who has never played a game of football, per AFL Media's Mitch Cleary.

The 18-year old caught the eyes of Magpies recruiters training alongside the club's father-son prodigy Nick Daicos for the Oakleigh Chargers before returning to Senegal due to visa constraints.

Still overseas, Faye is expected to return to Australia within a month where he will then be required to undertake a two-week quarantine period.

Faye originally came to the country to pursue in a career in basketball, but made the switch to footy with support from ex-Tiger and Hawk Tyrone Vickery, who put him through a two-month training program.

The athletic ruckman prospect is expected to be granted league approval to play in the 2021 NAB League season.

Similar to the Academy program, an International Rookie Scholarship player sits outside the club's maximum 44 players.

To be eligible for AFL selection, Faye would need to be upgraded to the AFL list at the end of the season via the official player movement window.

He ran a sub three-second 20 metre sprint and recorded an 84cm running jump, impressively causing testers to increase the maximum height accommodate for his leap.
