A Carlton member who threw a bottle at an umpire has been handed a five year ban by the club.
The fan who threw the bottle during last Saturday night’s Brsibane and Carlton clash at the Gabba was sitting in the cheer squad at the time and has had his membership revoked until the end of 2020 season.
“We have been working really hard to create a family friendly environment within our cheer squad and it’s unfortunate this isolated incident has affected the match day experience of those around him,” Carlton CEO Steven Trigg told the AFL website.
“Carlton will not stand for it and as it has breached our members’ code of conduct we have imposed the appropriate sanction.”
“We want our fans to come to games, support our team, and go home proud regardless of result.”
