The Western Bulldogs and Luke Beveridge are reportedly set to continue talks over a potential contract extension for the premiership coach.
2023 will be the final year of Beveridge's contract at the Kennel after he last re-signed with the Dogs midway through 2019.
Beveridge even turned down external interest in his services before recommitting for a further three years, a decision that has seen him set to enter his ninth season at Whitten Oval.
While 2022 wasn't the campaign Beveridge and co. would have been after following their grand final finish last year, Bulldogs bosses are tipped to urge the club's board to consider handing the former Collingwood and Hawthorn assistant an extension.
According to News Corp, Bulldogs chief Ameet Bains and football boss Chris Grant have backed Beveridge for beyond 2023.
The publication suggests Beveridge and the club were already in discussions prior to his period of leave over the off-season.
Those talks are expected to be rekindled when Beveridge returns to his duties in the coming weeks ahead of the players' pre-season schedule.
Beveridge has amassed a win-loss record of 104-79 across his eight seasons at the helm of the blue, white and red, with 2022 his second-worst win rate for a single season at 54.55 per cent.
He famously led the Dogs to their drought-breaking premiership win in 2016 before facing two seasons outside of the top eight, the only years where he failed to make finals.
Beveridge isn't the only coach set to enter the final year of his current deal come the new year, with Brisbane's Chris Fagan and Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley also off-contract in 2023.
Hinkley faced growing questions over his future this year after Port Adelaide started the season 0-5 and subsequently fell short of a finals berth, with the Power coach entering next year as one of the most under pressure coaches.
Fagan, currently in the middle of the harrowing Hawthorn racism investigations, is said to have begun talks with the Lions over a potential new deal, News Corp also reports.
