Brisbane star Daniel Rich has reportedly put pen to paper a new one-year deal that will take him off the free agency list.

The 31-year-old has been dealing in one-year contracts in recent years as he enters the twilight of his career.

The 2021 All-Australian has found career-best form under Chris Fagan and has become a key in Brisbane's premiership tilts in recent years.

AFL.com.au are reporting that Rich has decided to take his name off the free-agent list early in the year, just as he did in 2021.

The retention of Rich will be a welcomed weight off the shoulders of the Lions who also have Dayne Zorko, Ryan Lester and Mitch Robinson all set to be free agents at the end of the season.

Zorko's role at the Lions could be set for a shift in his final year with the skipper being trilled at half back.

Gerard Healy reported earlier this year that he had received word that Zorko's role was a possible change the Lions were keen to make.

"I’m hearing there may be a major positional move for a very important player up at Brisbane," Healy said on 3AW's Sportsday.

"Dayne Zorko, I’m hearing, may be producing his wizardry at half back.

"Bit of rebound and a little bit more extra pace."
