Glenn Archer has been charged with unlawful assault following an altercation at his son's junior footy match over the weekend.

Archer was watching his son play in an under-15 game between Banyule and Park Orchards, before a fight broke out between players on the field.

The two-time Kangaroos premiership player then decided to jump the fence and intervene after a parent from the opposition side grabbed a player and got involved.

Speaking on SEN radio on Monday morning, Archer denied reports he hit another parent, but admitted he was involved in an altercation. He then released a statement apologising for his actions.

However, he has now reportedly been charged with unlawful assault by Police.

He is set to appear in court on September 1st.
