Collingwood and Carlton will kick off the AFLW season once again, after their opening night success in last year's inaugural season.

After over 25,000 fans turned up to Ikon Park last season, the old rivals will do battle on Friday, February 2 at the same venue, to kick off the second edition of the AFLW.

The season will run from February 2 to March 24, with the grand final to be held on the opening weekend of the AFL season.

The final will be played in it's own time-slot before any AFL matches begin on the Saturday, and will not be a curtain-raiser for an AFL game.

Last year's finalists will square off in a round one blockbuster, as reigning premiers Adelaide host Brisbane at Norwood Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Melbourne will host GWS and Fremantle will travel to the Whitten Oval to face the Western Bulldogs in the two other round one games.

Fremantle will play the first match at the Perth Stadium when they host Collingwood in round two, as the Dockers get the first taste of the arena before any AFL sides do.

Tayla Harris will face her old side in round three, when Carlton host Harris' former side Brisbane at Ikon Park.

All games will be free once again, except for the match at the Perth Stadium between the Dockers and Pies in round two.
