Essendon are set to offer star forward Joe Daniher a long-term deal in hope their spearhead will remain in Tullamarine.

The Bombers are believed to be ready to offer the 26-year-old a four-year deal, according to AFL Media's Cal Twomey.

Daniher had requested a move to Sydney during last year's trade window, before a move fell through. It its understood Brisbane and Geelong are keeping tabs on the out-of-contract Bomber this season.

With Daniher set as a restricted free agent, the Bombers will have the option to match any offer made by a rival club and could potentially force a trade for their forward.

The Bombers currently face a contract dilemma with fellow stars Andrew McGrath, Jordan Ridley, Adam Saad and Kyle Langford all remaining without a contract for 2021.
