Essendon star David Zaharakis is likely to make a decision on his future at the end of Essendon's season.

Zaharakis, who will be a restricted free agent, has been one of the Bombers' best performers in 2017 as they push towards September football.

Scott Lucas, Zaharakis' player manager, said all parties were comfortable with where the contract situation currently stands.

“We have had lots of conversations, we are working through it all now,” Lucas said.

“I feel I need to give the fans something here - it’s (the delay is) a little bit of all of that.

“Both parties are relatively comfortable with where it’s at.

“If we thought it was impacting David’s football then there might be a slightly different approach.

“You get to this time of year and then you might go ‘let’s let it roll’ and then we’ll sort it out.”

Zaharakis has averaged 26 disposals, five marks and four tackles in 21 games in 2017 and is highly regarded inside the football club among teammates and supporters.
