Carlton is reportedly considering recruiting former Port Adelaide defender Cam O'Shea following the season ending knee injury to Sam Docherty.
O'Shea has attracted the interest of several clubs according to FoxSports, with Carlton the front runner to sign the 25-year-old.
The ex-Power player was delisted at the end of 2016 after playing 81 games with the club.
He spent the 2017 season playing with the Northern Blues, Carlton's affiliate side in the VFL, winning the club's best and fairest with a record number of votes.
He was also named in the VFL team of the year and he averaged 23 disposals, 6.6 marks, 6.6 intercepts, 4.7 rebounds and 3.3 spoils per match.
O'Shea is not Carlton's only option to replace Docherty, with former North Melbourne defender Aaron Mullet recently signing with the club as a delisted free agent, while ex-Sun Matt Shaw has also been training with the Blues.
Carlton can sign O'Shea in either the National Draft next Friday or the Rookie Draft.
