Gold Coast have not put a return date on Harley Bennel’s return to the side, as the club steps up its stance against delinquent behaviour.
The AFL Players Association and Bennel himself are pushing for the 22-year-old to return to side this week against Carlton, however, the Suns are reluctant to include the former No. 2 draft pick in the squad.
Under the AFL’s current illicit drugs policy, Bennel is free to play, however the Gold Coast are said to be attempting to pull a more hard line approach to its discipline after a poor season of off-field incidents.
The club is considering standing Bennel down for an extended period of time for bringing the club into disrepute if his response to discussions over the next few days is not satisfactory.
