Australian tennis star Ash Barty is set to present the premiership cup if Richmond win Saturday night's grand final, as first reported by Triple M's Tom Browne.

Barty, the women's tennis world number one, is Richmond's number one ticket holder and member and was seen in attendance at the club's last two finals in Queensland.

The 24-year old was thrilled to get the opportunity to present the silverware to Damien Hardwick and Trent Cotchin if the Tigers are successful in the decider.

“I was surprised and very honoured when Peggy asked me to present the Cup. I know there are many other Richmond people who would normally do this but given the circumstances I am very grateful for the opportunity,” Barty said.

“I wish the boys all the best for Saturday and very much hope I have the chance to be out there when the siren goes celebrating another Richmond Premiership.

“I am a long-time fan of the Tigers and so proud to be associated with the Club. I trained at the Club for several years with a lot of the boys and have loved watching the Tigers on my travels, supporting them has been a constant source of enjoyment for me on the road. I have a huge admiration and respect for the Club on and off the field, what they have achieved over the last decade is incredible.”

Speaking on Triple M's The Hot Breakfast this morning, Browne revealed that Barty had accepted Richmond's offer from the club this week.

"It's my understanding in an AFL/VFL first, that Peggy O'Neal, the Richmond chairman and president, has asked Ash Barty as their number one ticket holder and member to present the cup if Richmond win on Saturday night," Browne reported.

"It is possible, because the grand final protocols concerning COVID and distancing will expire when the siren goes. So it's my understanding that Ash Barty has been asked by Richmond to present the cup."

Geelong great Ian Nankervis will present the cup to the Cats if they win.
