Tom Hickey's move to the Swans is relying on Aliir Aliir's decision to seek a move to Port Adelaide or remain in the Harbour City, per AFL.com.

Aliir is set to be traded to the Power on a four-year deal in exchange for a future second-round selection.

Sydney are understood to be battling a tight salary cap during this exchange period, with Aliir's departure able to open the gates to gain Hickey.

Port Adelaide have expressed strong interest in Aliir in a bid to boost their tall defensive stocks, with the 26-year-old already undergoing a medical with the Power.

The Swans are keen on adding a ruckman to their engine room, with Hickey or fellow Eagle Nathan Vardy in their sights.

Port Adelaide turned down any move that would see ruckman Peter Ladhams move to the Swans.

Hickey played just three games in 2020 in a standby role for All-Australian Eagle Nic Naitanui.
