Hawks star Tom Mitchell has laughed off any speculation surrounding his future at Hawthorn.

Mitchell, who claimed his third Peter Crimmins Medal on Thursday, has had his name linked to a potential move away from the Hawks this season, with the club undergoing a rebuild and coaching handover.

The conjecture on Mitchell's future suggested there was belief the Hawks could be tempted to part ways with the Brownlow medallist in order to strengthen their draft hand and youthful stocks.

However, when speaking on RSN's Breakfast Club, Mitchell was able to reassure Hawks fans there was little truth to the reports linking him and some of his teammates to the exit at Waverley.

"You've got to laugh at some of the commentary," Mitchell said.

"I think there's been a few of the Hawks boys thrown up... Jack Gunston, Chad Wingard, myself and Jaeger (O'Meara) at different times.

"Half the time it's just not true, so there's nothing you can really do about it.

"There's maybe a bit of banter in the locker room, but there's no truth to it... apparently I'm going to Port, Brisbane, Richmond, Carlton.

"You just sort of ignore it and get on with it."

Mitchell enjoyed another stellar season in 2021, being one of several highlights for the Hawks as they managed a 14th place finish in what was a peculiar campaign for the club.

Despite a horrid handover, Hawthorn are posied for an exciting period under incoming senior coach Sam Mitchell, who will take over the reigns from four-time premiership coach Alastair Clarkson.

Already boasting a bevy of young talent, the Hawks wil also carry picks 5, 21, 24, 56, 62 into this year's draft to further boost their rebuild process.
