Melbourne midfielder Jack Viney has agreed to a new deal with the Demons that will see him remain with the club and not enter free agency.

the 26-year-old is set to be a Demon for life after singing after singing a new contract with the club that will see him remain with Melbourne until the end of the 2025 season.

Viney had been linked with a move to Geelong after ongoing speculation, with Channel 7 journalist Tom Browne reporting that Viney will sign on with the Demons.

Melbourne soon confirmed the news on their website, with general manager Josh Mahoney commending Viney's commitment to the club.

“By signing a long-term deal, Jack has shown belief in his teammates, his coaches and the club, which is exciting for everyone,” he said.

“Jack is a passionate Melbourne person and player, and has been since day one. He is a man of great integrity, who really drives standards among the playing group.

“At just 26, we think his best footy is still in front of him. We look forward to him building on his great contribution to the game, as a Demon.”

Viney took his game to a new level in 2020, flourishing in a dominant midfield group alongside Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver and finished third in the club's Best and Fairest count.
