The AFL Draft could reportedly become a two-day event in the near future and could even include the rookie draft under several proposals to radically overhaul the draft.

The Herald Sun reports that following news the AFL is considering introduced the live trading of draft picks in the coming years, the league could look to move the event to be held over two days under one of the new suggested models.

The proposed new format would see the first two rounds of the draft held on day one over a three or four hour period.

The following day, the remaining draft picks would be selected as well as the rookie draft.

Under the proposed system of trading draft picks, clubs could either trade to move up in the draft order to ensure they select a certain player, or they could trade for a player already selected by another club.
