The AFL and the Sydney Swans have come to an agreement over the club's current trading ban for the upcoming trade and free agency period.

The club raised the question with the AFL that losing a player whose contract is above the average wage would not be able to be replaced with the current restrictions on them.

The AFL has agreed to amend the restrictions so that the Swans can now replace a player who leaves as either a free agent or via a trade, with a contract of up to $450,000 for a new player.

The AFL acknowledged that the current COLA (cost of living allowance) payments does not apply to the majority of the clubs.
