The Adelaide Crows have re-signed stalwart goalkicker Taylor Walker to a fresh one-year contract extension.

The 33-year-old has displayed stellar form this season in the twilight of his career, posing a genuine threat to take out this year's Coleman Medal, currently sitting in second position.

'Tex's 3.2 goals per game average this season represents a second-best figure throughout his eventful 16-year Crows tenure, as he prepares to embark on a 17th next year.

Crows list boss Justin Reid commended the ex-skipper's impact both on and off the field, labelling him 'one of the best forwards' in the league in spite of his elder status.

"The impact Taylor continues to have on our group is significant, not just with the football he is playing which is evident, but the leadership and direction he provides on and off the field," Reid said as part of a club statement on Tuesday.

"That he remains one of the best forwards in the competition at his age is a credit to his attitude and work ethic and standards he sets at training and on game day.

"We are obviously very pleased his career will continue in 2024 as I'm sure our members and fans will be as well."

Walker expressed his enjoyment of Adelaide's successes this year, adding his satisfaction in being able to aid in the club's development of its younger players.

"I have loved the journey so far and this year getting back to playing some really exciting footy as a team," Walker stated in Tuesday's release.

"On a personal level, I'm pleased to be able to contribute to the team and I take a lot of pride and satisfaction in helping our younger players who are starting out their own careers.

"You can see from the footy we've played this year that we're heading in the right direction and hopefully we get [some] reward for that in the near future."

Walker and the Crows go into battle this Saturday night in this season's second Showdown with arch-rival Port Adelaide.
