Gary Ablett is on track to start full training from day one of the Gold Coast’s pre-season in early November and says that the Suns will definitely play finals next year.

Ablett managed just six matches this season after a season ending shoulder injury in 2014 kept hum out for much of the season, before injuring his knee in round 17.

“It’s good. I’ll start running in two weeks,” Ablett said at the club’s best and fairest award, which was won by forward Tom Lynch.

“I’ll be doing plenty in the off-season and be I’ll be ready to go day one of pre-season. I’m looking forward to that.”

Ablett also said that he believes the Suns are primed for the club’s first finals campaign next year.

“I’ve got no doubt we’re heading in the right direction,” he said.

“For us it’s continuing to improve. Rocket’s implemented a lot of good drills. For the playing group it’s about doing the basics well.

“We’re excited about having another big pre-season, getting fitter, working on the areas that we need to work on.

“I’ve got no doubt we’ll be playing finals footy next year.”
