Drafted with the 56th pick in the 2004 National Draft, Chris Knights played 102 AFL games for Adelaide and Richmond, although the half-forward’s career was marred by injuries.

Knights played 16 or more games in just four of his 11 seasons on an AFL list, although his best season came in 2009, as he kicked 43 goals in 20 games for the Crows.

He left Adelaide at the end of the 2012 season to join the Tigers, and played in five of their first games in 2013, before a knee injury cut his season short.

Knights would only play one more game for Richmond in 2015, before a hamstring injury ended his campaign, as the talented forward called time on his career at the end of the 2015 season.

He still loves his footy, and is excited for the 2018 season to get underway.

Knights spoke to Zero Hanger during the week, and gave us his tips for the opening round of the season.

Knights' Round 1 tips and predictions:

Richmond v Carlton

Tip: Richmond by 66 points

"Will do it convincingly. Their pre season has been fantastic with big wins over Essendon and North Melbourne."

Essendon v Adelaide

Tip: Adelaide by 33 points

"Will be too strong for Essendon, although the Bombers will have a good season. The Crows will want to start off strong.

St Kilda v Brisbane

Tip: St Kilda by 51 points

"Will be wanting to build from last year. Have a good, young team that plays fast at Etihad."

Port Adelaide v Fremantle

Tip: Port Adelaide by 27 points

"Jack Watts is playing really good football and they will be a top four contender. At home they are pretty hard to beat."

Gold Coast v North Melbourne

Tip: Gold Coast by 15 points

"North are in a bit of a rebuilding phase and have not had a very good pre season. Gold Coast will get the job done up there."

Hawthorn v Collingwood

Tip: Collingwood by 18 points

"Hawthorn are a little bit of an unknown, they have lost some good players in recent seasons. Collingwood will want to start the season strong."

GWS Giants v Western Bulldogs

Tip: GWS by 8 points

"GWS are still a brilliant team with another year of experience. They will be too strong up there for them."

Melbourne v Geelong

Tip: Melbourne by 24 points

"If Dangerfield does not play I think they will lose. He is huge for them."

West Coast v Sydney

Tip: West Coast by 16 points

"Sydney tend to start the season off slow and West Coast are strong at home."
