Richmond defender Jake Batchelor will miss the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury.

Batchelor has been managing the injury for most of the second half of the season, with the club deciding that surgery was the best option to allow the shoulder to fully recover.

He underwent a shoulder reconstruction last Friday, with the club expecting him to be able to begin contact training by December.

“It’s disappointing that Jake won’t be finishing the season, however, he was unable to continue pushing through with pain,” Richmond General Manager of Football Dan Richardson said.

“Our medical team recommended that he have it repaired immediately so that he can fully recover by the start of the 2017 pre-season.”
