Sydeny ruckman Kurt Tippett is all but certain to return for his side's crucial clash with North Melbourne this weekend.

Tippett has not played since injuring hamstring in Round 12 against Greater Western Sydney.

The 29-year-old has slowly been building up his training load since undergoing surgery and has trained with the main group for the past fortnight.

Youngster George Hewitt said Tippett has been training well and should line-up for the Swans on Saturday afternoon.

"He's trained with the main group for the past two weeks and he's looking really good, so we'll see how he pulls up on Thursday," Hewett said.

"We're all pretty versatile and I think you have to be in the AFL these days.

"We've also got Xavier Richards down there who is quite quick and brings that element of surprise as well."

Tippett was in stellar form before his injury, averaging 30 hitouts, 14 disposals, three tackles and 1.3 goals per game.
