Sydney star Lance Franklin remains in doubt for this week's clash with Richmond at the SCG.

Franklin copped a heavy knock to his hip during the first quarter of the Swans' win over North Melbourne in Round 22.

He managed to play out the match, however, he failed to train on Thursday, with the Swans likely to take a cautious approach with the 29-year-old in the lead up to finals.

General Manager of Football Tom Harley said on Tuesday that the club expected Franklin to play this week, however, he would need to get through training on Thursday before being named in the side.

“It looked a bit innocuous in a marking contest. He was a bit inhibited during the game but he has recovered ok,” Harley said.

“We fully expect him to be available come Saturday twilight, he will have his training program on Tuesday and Thursday but expect Lance to play.”

Meanwhile, co-captain Kieren Jack is expected to return from an ankle injury after missing last week's win over the Roos.
