Geelong coach Chris Scott says Daniel Menzel is in the frame for selection Saturday night against St Kilda.

Mezel, who has not played an AFL match in nearly four years after four knee reconstructions, has been in fantastic form in the VFL, to stake his claim for a recall.

He finished with 22 disposals and 10 clearances in a man of the match performance. Scott did not guarantee that Menzel will return this week, but he did leave the door open for a fairytale return.

"I said during the week that he's getting really close and after a strong performance today he is a little bit closer," Scott said.

"Based on today, I am very confident he will play AFL football before the end of the season.

"We wouldn't have left him on our list for four years out of compassion. We have stuck with him because we truly believe that he can get back to elite level footy."
