Saints keen on Lions’ captain Rockliff

Brisbane captain Tom Rockliff is reportedly being chased by St Kilda.

The Footy Show’s Damian Barrett reported on the program last night that the Saints are set to make a big play for the midfielder, following his contract negotiations stalling with the Lions.

News Corp reported on Tuesday that Rockliff and the club have hit a road block in negotiations, with the Lions unwilling to agree to the skipper’s asking price.

Rockliff is reportedly requesting a five-year deal worth $4 million.

The 26-year-old has played 126 games for the Lions in seven seasons with the club.

He has averaged 27.6 disposals in nine games this season.

    • Doubt there is much substance to the report, but we just need the one more a-grade midfielder and a couple of tall defenders and we’ll be pushing onwards and upwards – he could be the man, or Omeara possibly.

    • Said afl has no say if he decides to leave Brisbane but I don’t think he should leave them, Eyob he should be rewarded for loyalty but that’s ridiculous that he is asking for Nat Fyfe and Danger money when he is no way near there level especially in impacting a game!!!

    • He’s their leader and his their main man and although he’s no danger or Fyfe his level of importance to his team is up there with them, this signing doesn’t just sure up their captain for the next couple of year but it should be used as a stepping stone in the right direction Brisbane

    • The AFL should temporarily take over that club, my word they are willing to offer Josh Jenkins 75000 for 4 years.
And cant find the money for their captain no wonder why they cant retain their players.

    • Eyob if we are only basing it on that then you’re right but bro he doesn’t play like a captain and his disposals are rubbish….Said key position players have to be only 1/3 good and they’ll get money thrown at them but they are better off thrown that money at rocka than jj

  1. I couldn’t agree more. But the team around him is absolutly useless. If he’s already got the skill of getting the ball. Using it properly is an easy thing to learn especially with a better team around you.
