REPORTS: Former No.4 draft pick Jarrod Pickett requests trade to Carlton

Carlton look set to gain yet another Greater Western Sydney youngster.

Young defender and former top-10 draft pick, Caleb Marchbank requested a trade to Carlton last month, and now former No.4 draft pick Jarrod Pickett looks set to join him at Princess Park.

Fox Sports reports that Pickett, who is contracted for next season, is all but certain to be traded to the Blues over the next fortnight.

The 20-year-old missed the majority of 2016 after suffering a Lisfranc fracture in the NEAFL in April.

He is yet to play a senior game after being recruited in 2014, but kicked 26 goals from 17 games in the NEAFL in 2015, playing as a small forward/midfielder.

Carlton has already been in the headlines this week, with both Bryce Gibbs and Zach Tuohy requesting trades from the club on the opening day of the trade period.

    • Marchbank is in GWSs best 22, and played round 1 and 2 until he got injured. Pickett is injured and didn’t even have a lot of opportunities in the NEAFL. They are NOT their seconds man, hope i shined a bit of light haha

    • Because the Giants 22 is unreal and very hard to break into so look for other opportunities or sit in the reserves until you get delisted it’s a business mate do wats best for you the club will i.e. North melb

    • Love this! The Giants have built an empire. You’d be stupid not to clean them up like we are. Basically getting a top10 pick who’s has 1-2 years already in the system. Cleaning up on top 10 picks and giving up very little in the scheme of things is smart. Good way to fast track development.

    • The fact players want to come especially young kids is good. I’m excited for getting new faces. Hawthorn were bold 12 years ago and now have 4 flags to their name. No one would have believed that outcome. Not saying we will be hawthorn though lol
