Gold Coast star Dion Prestia may not play for the Tigers next year after all, despite his request to be traded to Punt Road.

Richmond and the Suns remain at loggerheads over a suitable deal for the 23-year-old, with the Herald Sun reporting that Prestia will sign a new deal at the Gold Coast if the two parties cannot agree a deal by the end of the trade period, ruling out Prestia entering the pre-season draft.

The Suns are understood to want pick No.6 for Prestia, however, Richmond will only give up the first round selection if the club also receive something else as well as Prestia in return. But so far, the Suns have not budged on their demand.

If the Tigers part ways with the No.6 selection, they will only have two drafts picks in the top 50.

Prestia will sign a five-year deal with Richmond if a deal is struck.
