The Power have been dealt a blow as they push for an unlikely finals birth, with key forward Charlie Dixon sidelined with an ankle injury.

Dixon has been ruled out of this week's clash with GWS at Adelaide Oval and the club is unable to put a time frame on his return.

"Because of the nature of the injury, it’s difficult to say exactly when he’ll be back but we’ll rehabilitate him as quickly as possible without risking any further damage," Port Adelaide high performance manager Darren Burgess said.

"This is a new injury, a trauma injury, and fortunately has nothing to do with the ankle problems Charlie’s had in the past."

The injury-prone Dixon has played 16 games this year, his equal most for a single season in his career.
