New Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin says star forward Jesse Hogan will reject lucrative offers from rival clubs when his current contract expires at the end of next season and remain with the Demons.

Hogan has been linked with a move to his home state of Western Australia to join the Dockers and he is sure to have countless big offers offers come his way as the end of his current deal draws closer.

But Goodwin says he believes the 21-year-old will opt to re-sign with Melbourne.

"I think Jesse's management and the club said they'd look at it at the end of the year and we're now at the end of the year," Goodwin said

"One thing I do know about Jesse is he loves his teammates, he loves playing for this club and I've got a really strong relationship with Jesse.

"Our focus is to make Jesse the best player (he can be).

"We're going to work really hard to retain Jesse and we're really confident that he wants to be a part of the Melbourne footy club."

Hogan has kicked 85 goals in 41 career games since making his debut in Round 1, 2015.

  1. Yeah all we can do is get a high draft pick for him…maybe two like that black and white filth gave up for Treloar. May as well do the deal now and be done with it…
