Jay Schulz will remain at Port Adelaide next season, according to his manager Liam Pickering.

Pickering said that he was confident that Schulz is still a required player at Port, despite reports that the club want to lure Charlie Dixon away from the Gold Coast, which could in turn force Schulz out.

"Port Adelaide haven't told me they're as heavily into Dixon as what's been reported," Pickering told  radio station SEN on Saturday.

"It would be pretty poor form in my view, if that's the way they went but we'll see what happens.

"You don't let a bloke walk out your door that's as good as him (Schulz), he's in their leadership group.

"He's a good footballer, he's 30 (years old) not 34, and hasn't missed a game in nearly three years.

"He's durable, kicked 68 goals last year, 60-odd the year before, he's on track for 50 or 60 this year."
