Sydney Swans defender Jeremy Laidler has signed a two-year contract extension.

The 26-year-old, who is at his third AFL club, will remain at the Swans until at least the end of the 2018 season.

Sydney general manager of football Tom Harley said the club is thrilled to secure the signature of the key defender.

“It’s really exciting to have Jeremy commit to the Swans for a further two seasons,” Harley said.

“It’s a great testament to his resilience; after coming to the club as a delisted free agent he has consolidated his spot in the team.

“Jeremy’s a fantastic person to have around the club. He’s settled really well into life in Sydney and we look forward to him continuing to play an important role in our backline.”

Laidler has played 73 career games, including 47 with the Swans.
