North Melbourne youngster Kayne Turner has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at Arden Street until the end of the 2018 season.

The 20-year-old has endured a horror year, suffering a hamstring injury in Round 6, before being caught drink driving, which saw the club impose a four match ban.

However, North opted to show faith in the young Roo, offering him a new deal.

"I was probably a bit nervous after everything that's gone on this year," Turner told Fairfax.

"But the club's shown a lot of trust in me and I couldn't be happier to be here for the next couple of years."

He has played 21 matches since making his debut in 2014.
