Geelong is findingĀ it increasingly difficult to satisfy Richmond in a trade for veteran Brett Deledio.

Without a first round draft pick, and with the Tigers' request of Josh Caddy in exchange for Deledio being shut down, the deal may fall through.

The Western Bulldogs have also been linked to Deledio this trade period, given the difficulty in negotiating with the Cats, while Damian Barrett reports that a third club has now entered the race for the 29-year-old's signature.

Barrett told AFL Trade Radio on Wednesday morning that Greater Western Sydney are set to launch a big bid for the former No.1 draft pick.

GWS has several high draft picks which could appeal to the Tigers, as well as a number of fringe players in need of greater opportunity.

The Giants are also likely to appeal to Deledio, with the club certainly in premiership contention over the next few years.

Deledo, pick No.1 in the 2004 National Draft, has played 243Ā for the Tigers and won two club bets and fairest awards in an 11 year career at Punt Road.

  1. thats the dumbest move ever. your talking about a 24yo + another fringe player for at 29yo. for Duncan(or Caddy) + a fringe player to go to the tigers, it would cost the tigers Delidio and their round 1 draft pick. Duncan is touted as the next captain of Geelong.
