Marchbank names Carlton as preferred club

Greater Western Sydney defender Caleb Marchbank has nominated Carlton as his club of choice for 2017.

Marchbank officially requested a trade from the Giants earlier this month.

The Blues beat Collingwood, Essendon and St Kilda in the race for Marchbank, with a trade now needing to be facilitated between the two clubs.

“The club will work closely with both Greater Western Sydney and Caleb’s management to come to a suitable arrangement,” Carlton’s general manager of list management Stephen Silvagni said.

The Giants are likely to request Carlton’s first round pick (No.5) as part of the deal.

The highly rated defender was recruited with pick No.6 in the 2014 national Draft and has played seven games in two seasons at the club, with injuries ruining his first two years at AFL level.

    • Yeah your boss should just trade you where they want…lol…..take you kids away from their grand aprents ….lol who gives a stuff. Whatever is best for the company…….

    • Nope, big chance Brodie slips to 5 and we need a player like him. Get a late first rounder for Touhy and trade that, or pick 21. When a player nominates a club it’s hard to get overs in return and let’s be honest pick 5 is overs. We got docherty for pick 28 when he nominated us

    • We hold the aces on this one not them. If pick 5 is a part of the deal we’ve failed and will never get anywhere. The old carlton recruitment would have been bent over, it won’t happen with sos. We surely have learnt from the Jakcsh, Whiley and p19 trade for 7. None of them have come on and we could have taken Peter wright at 7.
