Jordan Lewis officially requests trade to Melbourne

Four-time Hawthorn premiership player Jordan Lewis has officially requested a trade toย Melbourne.

Lewis, who has been offered a three-year deal by the Demons, will joinย former captain Sam Mitchell in leaving the club this trade period.

The 30-year-old wasย recruited with pick 7 in 2004 and played 264 games for the Hawks, including the 2008, 2013, 14 and 15 premierships.

He made the All-Australian team in 2014 and won the club best fairest in the same year. He finished runner-up behind Sam Mitchell in Hawthorn’s best and fairest this season.

    • I don’t know it’s doing my head in. We have had it good for a long time, now we need to let some good players go. Clarkson doesn’t want his team to go out like the lions did and he can’t keep everyone. He needs to make really hard decisions which he has been doing. It’s gonna be hard to see these players that I’ve grown up seeing play in a different team

  1. I think these suggested trades to Mitchell and Lewis have turned around to bite Hawthorn. They probably assumed one would go to allow salary cap relief and assumed the other would remain loyal and stay. Now they have lost both. All this to get Mitchell from Swans and Omeara from Suns. They have got Mitchell but still dealing with Omeara, who I might add hasn’t played for nearly 2 yrs due to injury. He could be a real dud deal if he doesn’t get over his injury concerns.

    • As a Swans supporter Mitchell is a good player but he had great players around him to help out . On the down side he is very slow. Don’t get me wrong I’m shatter we lost him. Hawthorn have shown no respect to the players who took pay cuts to get those flags for them.

    • Remembering Tom Mitchell was probably 3rd or 4th mid after Kennedy, Hannabery , Jack and with Sam and Jordan gone hes going to be the mid that opposition is going to put time into, He might be up to it ..OMeara is risky but the upside maybe great.

  2. Fuck Melbourne. If they want him this year they need to give something up, if they aren’t prepared to, make Lewis see out his contract for next season. If Hawthorn let him walk for nothing that would be the last straw for me. I have already lost my favourite player to WCE for nothing.
