Gold Coast midfielder Dion Prestia will reportedly miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.

Prestia, who has played through the injury for much of the season, aggravated the injury two weeks ago against the Lions.

His injury is worse than first though and he will undergo knee surgery today will which rule him out for the rest of 2016.

"He'll miss the rest of the year," Gold Coast football manager Marcus Ashcroft told AFL.com.au.

"We thought it'd be touch and go, but with five weeks remaining, there's not enough time to come back.

"He's pushed through most of the year with what he's had."

It may well spell the end of Prestia's career at the Suns, with speculation heating up that the 23-year-old will seek a trade to a Victorian club at season's end.
