Melbourne defender Oscar McDonald is in doubt to take his place in the side to face the Gold Coast Suns on Sunday.

McDonald injured his ankle during the Dees' loss to the Eagles last weekend, with fitness boss Dave Misson confirming he will require a fitness before being named this week.

“Oscar rolled his ankle in the game, but went back out and finished the game,” Misson told Melbourne TV.

“There’s no structural damage at all – it’s just the same ankle he’s rolled a couple of times already this year.

“He had a run (on Wednesday) and ran pretty well, so we’re expecting him to be available, but he’s going to have to train on Friday.”

Meanwhile, Aaron vandenberg will return to the side this weekend , after missing last Saturday's match against West Coast with a hip complaint.
