Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield has revealed some of the reasons behind his stellar form this season.

Dangerfield said that being able to enjoy a balance between footy and his other loves in life have helped him enjoy his career best season to date.

The 26-year-old said that being able to surf and fish during his time away from football has aided his mental preparation prior to games.

“I think just having that balance in lifestyle.” Dangerfield said on Triple M's Hot Breakfast on Friday morning.

“I loved my time in Adelaide, but it is a very footy-centric state and the waves are about an hour and twenty minutes away.

“Moving back, all of a sudden all those things I enjoyed growing up, footy and surfing, as well as fishing, it is all within reach and all very easy to do.

“I’ve certainly reacquainted myself with getting out and having a paddle and I honestly believe it helps with preparation.”

Dangerfield will have another chance to further enhance his credentials as the best player in the competition when the Cats take on the Bulldogs this Saturday night at Etihad Stadium.

  1. It is fantastic to be so close to my mommy’s udders. Nothing like fresh milk in a warm bed
