New recruit Patrick Dangerfield says the Cats has the potential to be the best in the competition.

Speaking to Cats Reloaded magazine, which will appear in this weekend's Geelong Advertiser, Dangerfield said the Cats can turn around their recent poor stoppage work and become a dominant midfield force once again.

“There are some really quality players in there and some younger players coming up from underneath,” Dangerfield said.

“For us to be successful, it’s not just going to be two or three dominant players every week, it’s going to be that whole band of seven to 10 midfielders that rotate through there.

“If we have a really even contribution from everyone, and every game there’ll be someone that has that breakout game and be really dominant, if we can have a really even contribution most weeks I think we will be one of the better midfields in the competition.

“That’s certainly what we’re aiming to be. We’re not aiming to be pedestrian, we’re aiming to be the best midfield in the game.

“I think we have the potential to be.”
