Ty Vickery will join the Hawks on a two-year deal, after Richmond opted not to match the Hawks' free agency offer.

The Tigers will receive a compensation in the middle of the second round, currently pick No.26, as compensation for losing Vickery.

Richmond released a statement confirming the news.

“Ty’s a terrific person, and has given our Club great service in his eight seasons at Richmond,” Tigers' football talent chief Dan Richardson said.

“We accept the free agency system has provided Ty with this opportunity, and we understand his desire to seek a fresh start at a new club to continue his football career.

“The club wishes both Ty, and his wife, Arina all the best for the future, and they’re always welcome at Richmond.”

Vickery has played 118 games for Richmond since being selected with pick No.8 in the 2008 National Draft.
