Hawthorn has confirmed defender Grant Birchall has re-signed with the club until the end of the 2019 season.

The four-time premiership player has played 240 games for the Hawks and has been a vital and reliable member of the Hawks' back six for the past decade.

“Grant is a really important player for us and a vital member of our backline,” Recruiting and List Manager Graham Wright said of the 28-year-old.

“He has been a part of this club for over ten years now and we were really keen to retain him.

“We are really pleased that Grant has signed on for another two seasons and believe he has plenty of good footy ahead of him.”
