Richmond's Shane Edwards has been cleared of serious damage after injuring his shoulder in last night NAB Challenge loss to Port Adelaide.

It was initially feared that Edwards had suffered a broken collarbone, however, the injury is not as severe as first thought and he could still line up for the Tigers in round one.

“Shane should recover quickly from the bruising, we’ll assess it further early next week, but at this stage we’re confident his preparation for round one won’t be interrupted,” Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson said.

Jacob Townsend is also expected to be fit for round one after suffering a concussion in the third quarter on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, the news is not good for Reece Conca, with scans confirming he has strained his hamstring and will miss at least eight weeks.

It is Conca's fourth hamstring injury in 12 months.

“It’s disappointing for Reece, he’s had a great pre-season thus far, but we’ll go through a thorough rehab process with him, and look forward to him making a contribution for us later in the season,” Richardson said.

Shaun Grigg is also sidelined, with a fractured thumb set to keep him out of action for the next 3-4 weeks.
