Young Essendon forward Jayden Laverde is reportedly being chased by several rival clubs.

AFL.com.au has reported that the 20-year-old, who remains out of contract for next season, is receiving increased interested from "a number of clubs," as his contract negotiations with the Bombers drag on.

Despite engaging in negotiations for some time, the two parties are yet to come to an agreement.

Laverde is a highly rated half-forward and was considered a top-10 pick by many until he slipped through to the Bombers at pick No.20 in the 2014 National Draft.

He has had an injury interrupted start to his career, playing 16 games in his first two season. The 190cm forward played the final nine games of the season last year, before an ankle injury ruined the beginning of his 2016 campaign.

Laverde returned to the side in Round 4 this season, before injuring his AC joint.

He has since played the past six games upon his return, booting six goals.
