Geelong captain Joel Selwood will be a Cat for for life after inking a new long term deal.

Selwood has signed a contract extension with the Cats until the end of the 2019 season.

He has played 204 games since being selected at No.7 in 2006 National Draft, and has captained the club since 2012, taking over from Cameron Ling.

Selwood has three premierships to his name, three Geelong best and fairest awards four All-Australians.

“Joel is an outstanding leader of our club, the ultimate professional, and we are really pleased to have extended his services over the next four seasons,” Geelong’s General Manager of Football Steve Hocking said.

“His list of accolades speak for themselves and his work ethic and determination is admired by his teammates and coaches. Both Joel and the club are pleased to get this arrangement agreed so quickly and it seems almost certain now that Joel will spend his entire career with the Cats.

“Joel has enjoyed a great deal of success already in his career, but it’s clear that he is hungry to achieve even more in the coming years.”
