Geelong ruckman Nathan Vardy has nominated West Coast as his preferred destination.

Following an ACL injury to star ruckman Nic Naitanui, ruling him out for the entire 2017 season, the Eagles searched far and wide for a replacement, also showing interest in Drew Petrie, before settling on Vardy.

The 25-year-old had also attracted interest from Port Adelaide.

He has struggled with several injuries throughout his career, and more recently struggled for opportunity, falling behind the likes of Zac Smith, Rhys Stanley and Mark Blicavs at the Cats.

Vardy has played a total of 25 games for Geelong over seven seasons.
