Lachie Whitfield has been banned for six months, while former GWS officials Graeme Allan and Craig Lambert have agreed to 12 month bans following their involvement in the Whitfield drugs saga, according to the Herald Sun.

Whitfield, 22, is accused of hiding at former Giants’ official Craig Lambert’s house in order to avoid drug testers last season, with the help of former GWS football chief, Graeme Allan.

The trio have been sanctioned under the AFL’s disrepute rules and not the anti-doping code, avoiding potential four-year bans from the Australian Anti-doping Agency.

The former No.1 draft pick will begin his ban immediately, meaning he will be eligible to return to the club after Round 8 next season.

Fairfax reported last week that the Giants may also be stripped of draft picks due to the incident.
