Hawthorn has officially lodged the paperwork to sign free agent Ty Vickery, in the first move of the trade and free agency period.

As Vickery is a restricted free agent, the Tigers have until Monday to match Hawthorn's offer to the former first round draft pick, which is a two-year deal.

“Ty is keen to come to the Hawks and we are hopeful that we have provided him with a deal that will see this come to fruition," Hawthorn Recruiting and List Manager Graham Wright said.

““His ability to play both ruck and forward is an extremely valuable asset, making him a fantastic addition to our list.

“At 26 years of age Ty has plenty of football left to play"

Vickery has kicked 158 goals in 119 games for Richmond, after being selected with pick No.8 in the 2008 National Draft.
