Gold Coast's Steven May has been hit with a five game suspension by the AFL tribunal.

May was referred directly to the tribunal for his huge bump on Martin, which left the Lions' ruckman motionless and heavily concussed.

The case lasted almost an hour and half, however, the jury then took a mere ten minutes to consider its verdict, before slapping May with a five match suspension.

More to come.
