Former West Coast star Ben Cousins has reportedly been arrested by Police in the Perth suburb of Canning Vale.

Nine News in Perth has reported that Cousins has been charged with breaching a violence restraining order and with drug possession.

He was arrested at 1pm on Monday and spent the night at the Perth Watch house and currently remains in Police custody.

He has reportedly been charged with one count of possessing methamphetamine, while the VRO relates to an incident two days ago.

Cousins is due to appear in Armadale Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
