Carlton has confirmed Zach Tuohy's desire to be traded to Geelong.

The Blues released the following statement a short time ago.

"Out-of-contract Carlton defender Zach Tuohy has informed the Club that he would like to seek a trade and nominated Geelong as his preferred club.

“The Club had offered Zach a three-year deal and he has chosen to explore his options. We remain committed to adhering to our list management plan and the offer was in line with that strategy,” Head of Football Andrew McKay said.

“We will now work with Zach and his management to ensure an appropriate deal can be arranged in the best interests of the Carlton Football Club.”

The Club will make no further comment."

Tuohy has been linked with a move to North Melbourne, Sydney and Geelong in recent weeks, however, chose the Cats as his preferred destination.

The 26-year-old Irishman has played 120 games since being recruited with pick No.73 in the 2010 Rookie Draft.

Tuohy played every game in 2016, averaging 20 disposals, 3.6 marks and 2.2 tackles per game.

He joins vice-captain Bryce Gibbs, in requesting a trade from the Blues this trade period, after it emerged that the former No.1 draft pick intends to return home to Adelaide.
