Carlton captain Marc Murphy is still at least three weeks away from return to football, the club has confirmed

Murphy injured his ankle in the Blues' win over Geelong in Round 10 and was initially expected to miss four to five weeks.

However, his ankle recovering slower than expected and is now unlikely to seen until at least Round 18.

"Murph's still out with his ankle ... he's progressing ok - a little bit slow - but he's still another three weeks away before he's ready to go," Blues' football chief Andrew McKay told the club's website.

Carlton play Collingwood this Saturday night at the MCG.
